With more photo booth printers on the market than ever before, how do you choose the perfect printer for your photo booth business? Whether you are starting a new business and shopping for your first printer, searching for exciting new features in printers to up-sell or are upgrading your current model, we wanted to share our ratings on some of the highest-rated professional printers available. Here are six of FotoClub’s high-rated choices set in three categories for the best photo booth printers for your business in 2018:

Economical Photo Booth Printers

DNP DS-RX1HS Digital Photo Printer

Why this DNP printer is a best choice: Compact, reliable, reputable, 700 prints per roll — more prints than any other printer on the market.

The DNP DS-RX1HS printer is an upgrade from the DNP DRX1 printer model and boosts print speed by as much as 20% over its previous model. Faster printing speeds allow you to produce as many as 290 4×6 prints in just one hour, and it outputs 700 4×6 prints per roll. Typically, faster print times and a higher print capacity translate into a heavy and bulky printer. However, the DRX1HS weighs in at only 30 pounds and is compact in size, making it a popular choice for photo booth businesses.

Mitsubishi CP-K60DW-S Dye-Sub Photo Printer

Why this Mitsubishi printer is a best choice: Compact, portable, offers three print sizes from the same media.

The Mitsubishi CP-K60DW-S printer may not win any “fastest printer” contests anytime soon, but it gets the job done and boasts some pretty unique features. Due to its compact size, the K60 model is a smart choice for smaller photo booth builds and, like the CP70, the K60 boasts a metal body. Changing the media is simple, thanks to the front-loading style, and the ink “rewind” technology works to maximize ribbon usage. The K60 is compatible with most versions of Macintosh and Windows computer operating systems. In addition to producing 2×6, 4×6 and 4×8 prints, the K60 can also produce a square 6×6 print — a popular feature among event photographers and companies who wish to offer Instagram-style prints to their clients.

SINFONIA Color Stream CS2 Photo Printer

Why this Sinfonia printer is a best choice: Compact, portable, smallest footprint printer on the market.

We believe that those who are shopping for a budget-friendly printer shouldn’t have to worry about sacrificing quality. Enter the SINFONIA CS2. Considering the weight of the printer at 22 pounds, the outer shell is extremely durable, and this particular model fits perfectly into booth designs that require a small footprint. The CS2 is capable of producing 300 4×6 prints per roll at an average cost of $0.16 per print, depending on printer materials and supplies. If you’re looking for the best value in the economy class, the CS2 photo printer features not only a robust design, but it is also one of the lightest printers on the market.

High-Performance Photo Booth Printers

DNP DS620A Dye-Sub Photo Printer

Why this DNP printer is a best choice: Compact, portable, fast, low cost per print — the Mercedes Benz of printers.

The DNP DS620A features a thermal print head and enhanced print engine system. Weighing in at 26 pounds, this environmentally friendly model produces high-quality prints at lightning-fast speeds and can produce 400 4×6 photos in one hour. In “high-speed” mode, the DS620A is capable of printing a 4×6 photo in just eight seconds. Media is available in 4×6, 5×7 and 6×8 rolls that produce 400/230/200 prints each, respectively. The DS620A also features a low-power standby mode and quickly wakes up when you’re ready to use it. The wireless feature allows you to directly print from tablets, phones and even Wi-Fi-capable DSLR cameras, thus increasing your on-location printing options.

Mitsubishi CP-D70DW Pro-Performance Photo Printer

Why this Mitsubishi printer is a best choice: Compact, reputable in the event photo industry and amusement park industry.

Mitsubishi printers are well-known for their reliability, and the Mitsubishi CP-D70DW dye-sub photo printer is no exception. This model is Mitsubishi’s latest offering in the 6×8/5×7/4×6 printer category, making it an excellent choice for producing proofs or prints in the studio as well as printing on-site at events. This printer features matte-finish print modes, high resolution, a multi-cut function, a heavier media stock and can print a 4×6 in just 8.4 seconds. Even at 26 pounds, the CP-D70DW is compact compared to other high-end professional printers on the market, and its stability and small footprint make it an excellent choice for photo booth businesses.

Wireless Photo Booth Printers

HiTi P525L Dye-Sub Photo Printer

Why this HiTi printer is a best choice: Cheapest, most economical printer on the market.

Formerly known as HiTI model P520L, the HiTi P525L features improved color and durability compared to its previous model and is one of the most affordable photo printers on the market. The front-loading printer means loading paper is a breeze, and the front panel features an LCD screen that allows you to check print counts in seconds. The 525L can produce 500 4×6 prints per roll via USB or WiFi — the set-up of which could not be easier. The free HiTi printing app for Android and iPhone means you can wirelessly print from your phone camera or computer, or you can choose to connect a card reader and print from your camera’s memory card — an enormous benefit for companies that take shots outside of the booth. If wireless functionality is high on your must-have list, then this is the printer for you.

The question of which photo booth printer is the best choice is a popular one among professional photo printing business owners. Depending on the design of your photo booth and other factors such as budget and goals for your new business, the responses and opinions can vary. For instance, you might want to base your decision on weight or physical size, while someone else may choose a particular model due to reliability and/or higher print quality. While deciding on a photo booth printer can be overwhelming, it is our goal at FotoClub to help you narrow down your options by introducing some of our best photo booth printers that could move your business forward in 2018.
